Insomnia Cause

 

What is your Insomnia Cause?

 

Restless sleep or lack of sleep - what are the causes? Is it restlessness because you can’t sleep because your partner is snoring or your head is full of ideas of things you want to do. I’ve had that problem more than once, being worried about an appointment that’s coming up or the general stresses of work….

 

Let’s list a few and see what we come up with.

 

1.       Husband snoring (now, this is a big one!)

2.       Work stresses – meetings, boss, work load, not enough work and so on.

3.       Financial problems – lack of funds, increased commitments, mortgage etc

4.       Family issues – new baby in house, kids’ education,

5.       Personal – emotional, relationship issues, or lack of a relationship.

6.       Pain can be a major Insomnia Cause, whether it’s from a current disease or ailment or from an injury.

7.       Leg cramps are very painful and can wake a person up, and trying to settle to sleep again is often a problem.

8.       Study is another common Insomnia Cause and often a problem with students or anyone completing further education.

9.       Temperature changes can affect our sleep, whether it is too hot or too cold, are we comfortable in our bed?

10.   What about the noises outside or in your home? Does the clock tick? And the light - is your room dark enough to induce good sleep or is it another Insomnia Cause?

11.   The comfort of your pillow can become an Insomnia Cause - is it time you got a new one?

12.   Do you suffer from depression or other psychiatric illness? This Insomnia Cause can either result from depression or it can be the cause of it.

13.   Is breathing a problem? Do you have sleep apnea?

14.   Are other stimulants your Insomnia Cause, like caffeine too close to bedtime? Nicotine is another common cause. Smokers often take longer to get to sleep than non-smokers.

15.   Alcohol. We think it might help us get to sleep, but it can be an Insomnia Cause as it has been known to cause fragmented sleep.

16.   There are sleeping pills, and they are supposed to help, but misuse or overuse can be found to create restlessness in some people, making it an Insomnia Cause rather than an Insomnia Treatment.

17.   Did you have curry for dinner? Heart burn (reflux) is another one of Insomnia Cause.

 

 

Any number of reasons could be classified as an Insomnia Cause and the list goes on ...
